Competition In The Potash Space Heats Up With Western Potash's Revised Mine Plan

ZURICH, SWITZERLAND / ACCESSWIRE / July 2, 2015 / Today, mining analyst Stephan Bogner published a research update on Western Potash Corp., as the company has released material news today.

Excerpt:

While K+S Aktiengesellschaft has received a friendly take-over bid from Potash Corp. last week, today Western Potash Corp. has announced the completion of a Scoping Study for a revised mine plan of its Milestone Potash Project in Saskatchewan, which is adjacent to K+S's Legacy Potash Deposit.

The offer by Potash Corp.'s new CEO, Jochen Tilk, has been called a bold move. This offer is also reputed to be at a 57% premium (41 EUR) to the last 12 months average trading price for K+S. It represents a major move by a mining giant and one which potentially signals a new direction of opportunity in the potash sector.

Today, K+S officially rejected the offer as "too low" and "according to our perception, PotashCorp wants to take advantage of a valuation gap to take over K+S in order to gain control of Legacy."

Rockstone believes that Western Potash is now, with today's revised mine plan, in a strong position to capture this upside, leading me to ask "Who is the next company to be acquired in the potash space?"
