Supreme Court to hear challenge to ghost-gun regulation
The Supreme Court is hearing a challenge Tuesday to a Biden administration regulation on ghost guns, the difficult-to-trace weapons with an exponentially increased link to crime in recent years. The rule is focused on gun kits that are sold online and can be assembled into a functioning weapon in less than 30 minutes. The regulation came after the number of ghost guns seized by police around the country soared, going from fewer than 4,000 recovered by law enforcement in 2018 to nearly 20,000 in 2021, according to Justice Department data.

STORY: Florida ordered mass evacuations in the face of Hurricane Milton - which grew to a Category 5 storm Monday.In Madeira Beach, the streets were still full of debris from Hurricane Helene in late September, as locals braced for Milton.While Milton was still classed a tropical storm on Sunday, the U.S. National Hurricane Center says it "explosively" morphed into the strongest level storm on the five-step Saffir-Simpson scale.The NHC also says its the third-fastest intensifying storm on record in the Atlantic Ocean.On Monday Milton skirted the northern edge of the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico on its way to Florida.It's predicted to make landfall on the western coast of Florida by Wednesday.The Center's Deputy Director Jamie Rhome warns there will be storm surges, flooding and power outages:"If you're in this red area, you need to be in action mode. Monster hurricane Milton threatens an already battered Florida
The Category 5 Hurricane Milton was expected to grow larger on Tuesday as it threatened Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula on its way to Florida, where more than a million people were ordered to evacuate from its path. The densely populated west coast of Florida, still reeling from the devastating Hurricane Helene less than two weeks ago, braced for landfall on Wednesday. The U.S. National Hurricane Center projected the storm was likely to hit near the Tampa Bay metropolitan area, home to more than 3 million people and where some evacuees rushed to dispose of mounds of debris left behind by Helene on their way out of town.
