Speaker Boehner steps down
A day after hosting Pope Francis on Capitol Hill, Speaker of the House John Boehner announced today that he will be resigning his post and leaving Congress at the end of October. The news comes as the latest budget fight looms in Washington and talk of another government shutdown grows again.

Volkswagen CEO
Volkswagen (VLKAY) is expectec to name a new CEO today. Earlier this week Martin Winterkorn resigned from that post amid the growing emissions scandal and the car-maker's board of directors is currently meeting to discuss a possible replacement. It is widely thought to be Matthias Muller, head of the company's Porsche brand.

Chinese president in U.S.
Chinese President Xi Jinping is announcing a landmark climate change initiative at the White House today. The program will put a cap on some emissions and price on carbon in China, and will be implemented by 2017.

Google vs. Amazon in search
More than half of Amazon's (AMZN) growth in mobile traffic came from app users, according to Morgan Stanley (MS) and this may be a major threat to Google's (GOOGL) search business. Google search reportedly makes the most money when people use it for shopping, but this revenue stream may be under more pressure as customers increasingly use Amazon's app
