Black Friday: How to Get the Best Travel Deals and Beat the Crowds

After getting their turkey fill this Thanksgiving, many Americans will hit the shops in the hopes of snagging a bargain on the biggest shopping day of the year.

But while Black Friday has become synonymous with standing in line before the sun comes up and wrestling over the “big box” items, some of the best savings around can actually be had from the comfort of your couch — on travel deals.

With hotels offering 20%, 30%, even up to 60% off room rates, and airlines expected to slash prices for both domestic and international routes, there really is no better time to book your next vacation.

Here are some of the best offers Yahoo Travel has seen so far:

Big Chains

Starwood Hotels, one of the World’s largest hotel groups that includes the brands Sheraton, Westin, Le Meridien, W, St Regis, Four Points and others, is set to launch its biggest sale to date over Thanksgiving Week. Through Dec. 6, over 100 hotels are offering up to 25% off room rates with some offering up to 50% off. Members of Starwood’s Preferred Guest program will receive additional discounts. Westgate Resorts are offering employee discounts to the general public from 5 a.m. EST on Black Friday through Cyber Monday, if you register on Thanksgiving Day. This will give bargain hunters access to amazing rates at all of the 22 Westgate resort properties in the U.S., with available travel dates until Dec. 15, 2016, including $21 per night at Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino, $70 per night at Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa in Orlando, Fla., and $230 per night during ski season at Westgate Park City Resort & Spa in Park City, Utah. Grab up to 60% off room rates at one of Barcelo Hotels and Resorts‘ 100 properties spread throughout nineteen countries across the globe, including Mexico, Spain, Costa Rica, Aruba and the Dominican Republic if you book between Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

City Breaks

The Camby is a brand spanking new hotel set to open next month in Phoenix, and Black Friday shoppers can get 30% off room rates for travel between December 2015 and September 2016. They are even throwing in a $30 credit for one of their on-property bars and eateries. Go here to book.

If you fancy winter break, check out the JW Marriott Miami’s Black Friday deal, which offers guests 25% off room rates when booked between Nov. 27 and Nov. 30. There are no blackout dates.

The beautiful Rancho Bernardo Inn in San Diego is offering 50% off all rooms booked between Nov. 27 and Nov. 30 for travel dates until Jan 7, 2016.

The boutique, centrally located Hotel Abri in San Fransisco will drop room rates to just $99 a night for those who book between Nov. 27 and Nov. 30 for visiting until Jan 31. 2016

Beach and Coastal Retreats

The Renaissance Aruba Resort and Casino is offering 20% off rooms booked between Black Friday and Cyber Monday with rates starting at $161 a night for travel dates between Dec 7, 2015 and Jan 31, 2016. Packages can be booked starting Nov. 27.

The Islamorada Resort Company is taking 30% off room rates at all four of their Florida Keys properties from Nov 27 until Dec 1. Book your stay at the Postcard Inn Beach Resort & Marina, the Pelican Cove Resort and Marina, Amara Cay Resort, or La Siesta Resort using the promo code CYBER.

The luxurious Seven Stars Resort in Turks and Caicos will be offering 50% off all rooms booked between Black Friday and Cyber Monday for travel between April 16 and Aug. 12, 2016.

Solmar Hotels and Resorts are going to be discounting room rates by up to 64% across their collection of six properties in Los Cabos, Mexico if you can travel before Dec. 26, 2015. Anyone for Christmas in Mexico? Go to to make your reservation.

Palace Resorts, which has eight all-inclusive beachside properties in Mexico, are offering up to 50% off packages for travel dates from Dec. 1, 2015 through June 9, 2016 with a three night minimum stay.

Cruise

Set sail with MSC Cruises, which is putting cruises on sale for Black Friday and Cyber Monday until Wednesday, Dec. 2. You can save up to 30 percent on seven night (or longer) Caribbean cruises on the MSC Divinia this coming spring and winter. The cruise line will also throw in a $400 shipboard credit for every booking.

From Black Friday through Cyber Monday, LAN Airlines and TAM Airlines (all part of LATAM Airlines Group) will be offering what they call “loco” fares from some U.S. and Canadian cities to Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Chile, Colombia, and more. Flights go as low as $299 from Miami to Colombia. Plus, you can also add on another select city if you’re heading to the the capital cities of Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Peru.
