BBC Presenter Realises Her Gaff After Blowing Family Secret Surprise Live On Air
A BBC presenter accidentally blew the secret of her niece’s surprise birthday bash – by talking about it live on air.
Kawser Quamer, one of the BBC North West’s regular weather forecasters on the regional channel, was in her usual Friday evening slot discussing the area’s forecast for the weekend ahead, when the conversation strayed into what she would be doing over the forthcoming weekend.

“What have you got for the weekend, anything exciting?” she was asked in the studio by the host Annabel Tiffin at the end of the early evening regional news program, which was broadcasting live to the UK’s north west region.
“My niece’s surprise birthday party,” she responded immediately.
“That’s lovely,” said her host. “Not a surprise if she’s watching this!”
“Quamer instantly realised what she’d done, clasping her hands together in shock at her gaffe. “Goodness me. I’ve spoilt it!” before she put her head in her hands, then gesticulated “Shhh!” to watching viewers.
Tiffin brought the show to a quick close, but the damage was done. No word yet on whether news of her party reached Quamer’s niece, or whether the weather forecaster managed to keep a lid on the surprise bash.
