The Aston Martin V-12 Vantage is coming back. After a four-year hiatus that started with the redesign of the standard V-8 Vantage, the V-12-powered sports car is set to return for one Final Edition model in 2022.

The news comes from a teaser video released by Aston Martin, with a crackling V-12 exhaust and a glowing, animated V-12 badge. "Never read quietly," reads the tagline, with the accompanying release noting that, "[i]t’s not just a Limited Edition, it’s a Final Edition." That confirms that, as Aston moves exclusively to AMG engines, the legendary V-12 will leave the lineup.

Aston has released no further details about the return of the V12 Vantage beyond its 2022 release date. But it isn't hard to guess what V-12 the company will use. Aston Martin has just one on sale now, a 5.2-liter twin-turbo V-12 that makes 715 hp in the DBS Superleggera and 630 hp in the DB11. The last V-12 Vantage S, which went out of production in 2017, used a naturally aspirated V-12 that made 565 hp. It's unlikely that natural aspiration will make a comeback in this application, but given that the options are a free-breathing V-12 or a 600-plus hp Vantage that sounds incredible, Aston can't go wrong here.
