New York City, New York -- (May 23, 2013)

The U.S. equity market tumbled on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, as market participants digested the minutes of Federal Reserve’s most recent FOMC. Earlier in the day, all three benchmark indexes in the U.S. edged higher after Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke said during his testimony to the Senate that the continuation of the central bank’s bond buying program or QE3 will depend on the state of the economy. However, minutes of Fed’s most recent FOMC, which were released later in the day, showed that several officials in the U.S. Federal Reserve want the central bank to start winding up QE3 as early as the June meeting if the economy shows sign of a sustained recovery. The technology sector was one of the worst performers in the S&P 500 on Wednesday, falling more than 1.20%. The worst performers in the sector included America Movil SAB de C.V.
