Amazon will allow corporate employees to work from home through June 2021

Amazon will let corporate employees work from home through June 2021 amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

“We continue to prioritize the health of our employees and follow local government guidance," said Amazon in an email to USA TODAY. "Employees with work that can effectively be done from home can continue to do that work from home through June 30, 2021."

The decision was first reported by Bloomberg.

The Seattle tech giant is not alone in the work-from-home move. Earlier this month, Microsoft unveiled plans to adopt a "hybrid workplace" environment where most roles to remain remote less than 50% of the time with manager approval, even after the pandemic ends.

Similarly, Alphabet, parent company of Google, announced several months ago that it would continue having employees work from home until July 2021. Facebook and Twitter also have told employees that they may remain as remote workers after the pandemic, if they choose.
