Amazon crushes holiday wknd sales; Mattress Firm deal; Joy Global downgraded

Time for your daily dose of trending tickers, the stocks you're following based on your Yahoo Finance ticker searches.

Joy Global

Joy Global (JOY) tanked after a bearish call on Wall Street. The stock moved sharply lower after it was downgraded at Bank of America Merrill Lynch to an "underperform" rating from "neutral." The price target was cut to $10 a share, which is a potential downside of about 30 percent from the last closing price. The firm thinks the mining-equipment manufacturer will continue to face unfavorable conditions in both coal and industrial metals.

Mattress Firm

Deal making pushed Mattress Firm (MFRM) higher. Shares spiked after the mattress retailer agreed to buy rival Sleepy's for $780 million. The combined company will have presence in all U.S. states except Wyoming and Alaska. The deal is expected to close in the first half of 2016.

Amazon.com

Amazon (AMZN) had its best holiday shopping weekend. Ever. At least for its devices including the Fire products. This Cyber Monday was the biggest online shopping day in history. Shoppers spent nearly $3 billion dollars. That's 12 percent more than last year, according to Adobe. Mobile accounted for nearly half of all online shopping.
