If you scrolled through my Instagram Saved folder, you’ll come across heaps of fun and bright nail art and designs that would make you think I’m super adventurous with my nails. Except, I’m not.

In fact, you’ll usually find various tones of brown on my nails come autumn. Or, a very dark red. I know, ground-breaking stuff.

But Adele and Kourtney Kardashian have just solidified the unexpected nail trend of the season and it’s one I can actually get behind.

In a new video for Vogue, Adele has a trendy black French manicure. In the video, which sees her trying a bunch of classic British dishes, her almond-shaped nails are topped off with black and are finished with a shiny top coat.

The colour seems to be a popular choice at the moment.

Just yesterday, Kourtney Kardashian revealed her engagement to Travis Barker. For the romantic beachside proposal, Kourtney kept it pretty simple, opting for one colour all over her long nails. You guessed it: black.

After years of failsafe nudey pinks, pillarbox red and Tipp-Ex white tips, I’m actually pretty excited to see black taking its rightful spot as a go-to nail shade.

It’s the colour that dominates 95% of my wardrobe, after all.
