Adam Randall, Antonio Williams are teammates in SC all-star game ... and after that?

For all of Clemson’s success in recruiting, it would take a moment to recall the last time the Tigers have had multiple wide receivers from South Carolina sign in the same class.

According to 247Sports’ records, it was 10 years ago when Dorman teammates Charone Peake and Adam Humphries joined Charleston’s Stanton Seckinger as Class of 2011 signees. (Seckinger would switch to tight end in college.)

Clemson already has one verbal commitment from Myrtle Beach High School’s Adam Randall, who plans to enroll in January. If he has anything to say about it, another South Carolinian at the position will join him in the Tigers’ class.

The Tigers — and Randall — are targeting Dutch Fork senior wide receiver Antonio Williams. It just so happens that both are on the South team for the upcoming Touchstone Energy Bowl North-South game, set for Dec. 11 at Myrtle Beach High’s Doug Shaw Stadium.

“I’ll be in his ear a little bit just trying to spit him some game about Clemson and how great of a program it is,” Randall said, “but ultimately I want him to make the best decision for himself.”

Randall, who has been committed to the Tigers since Christmas 2020, said he first reached out to Williams when he saw that Clemson sent the Dutch Fork High senior a custom graphic for use on social media.

The Tigers originally went after Virginia native Andre Greene Jr. to add another wide receiver to the recruiting class. He committed to North Carolina on Nov. 17, though, and Clemson offered the 6-foot, 180-pound Williams three days later.

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney had his in-home visit Thursday night with Williams, joined by Tigers receivers coach Tyler Grisham and running backs coach C.J. Spiller.

Randall, listed as 6-3, 215 pounds, is the No. 3 player in South Carolina. He’s already excited about the potential of what the two can do in an already loaded wide receivers group, especially considering how freshman wideouts contributed this season for the Tigers. As injuries added up at the position, it gave Beaux Collins and Dacari Collins more opportunities on the field.

Beaux Collins was the second-leading receiver behind redshirt junior Justyn Ross with 387 yards and three touchdowns on 28 receptions, which included two 100-yard receiving games and five starts in 10 games played. Dacari Collins started in the final two games of the season but played in eight, totaling 165 yards on 10 catches.

As much as Randall would like for him and Williams, the No. 4-ranked player in South Carolina, to be two in-state receivers for Clemson, he just wants the Columbia-area star to go where he feels most comfortable.

“It would be exciting,” Randall said. “I definitely don’t know when’s the last time (Clemson has) had two South Carolina receivers accept offers and go there. … I know that we’ll be able to do great things if he decides to go there, but like I said, I’m hoping he can make the best decision for himself — and I’m hoping it’s Clemson.”
