Looking to buy a new car before summer officially ends? You still have time! Prices will start rising in the fall to prepare for the holidays. Auto experts recommend buying the following models before they skyrocket in price, helping you save money in the process.

Find Out: 7 Reasons You Must Speak To a Financial Advisor Before Spending $10,000 or More

Here’s why they say these are the best cars to buy before this fall.

Earning passive income doesn't need to be difficult. You can start this week.

Honda CR-V

  • 2025 model starting price: $31,450

There’s a reason why the Honda CR-V is one of America’s most popular cars. Eamonn Turley, a car and van expert and CEO of RVRentaCampervan, feels consumers love the CR-V for its reliability, fuel economy and roomy interior. He recommended buying now since the need for SUVs increases right before winter.

“With fall coming on very quickly right now, we are likely to see a surge in demand for SUVs as people gear up for winter driving conditions, and it will help drive prices higher,” Turley said. “The inventory levels will be affected by the backlog of supply chains and higher manufacturing costs, thus continuing to drive prices higher. In this vein, great practicality combined with an affordable price make the CR-V all the more worthy of investment before the seasonal price hike.”

Trending Now: 6 Hybrid Vehicles To Stay Away From Buying

Toyota Corolla

  • 2024 model starting price: $23,185

When it comes to its reliability, great resale value and cheap cost of ownership, you can’t beat the Corolla. However, the 2025 model is coming soon, which could cause a price spike. Turley feels it’s best to buy now to get the best deal.

“Its track record of longevity and the brand’s reputation for quality make the Corolla an extremely solid investment,” Turley said. “Buying a Corolla now may save you from paying a premium later and ensure you drive a dependable car.”

Nigel Tunnacliffe, co-founder and CEO at Coastline Academy, said the hybrid model is something you should keep in mind.

“The Toyota Corolla Hybrid has consistently shown itself to be one of the most reliable cars on the market, combining strong fuel economy with lower year-over-year depreciation than many of its competitors.”

Tunnacliffe added that its great fuel economy might be a reason for the price to go up come fall.

“We have purchased hundreds of Corollas for Coastline Academy due to their consistent value year after year. Amid rising oil prices, its hybrid nature makes it an excellent choice. However, it may also lead to a general increase in the vehicle’s price, as higher oil prices will likely drive higher demand for hybrid vehicles.” Tunnacliffe said. “For that reason, it seems most sensible to opt for this vehicle sooner rather than later, as this will help buyers get ahead of the curve in terms of getting the most value out of their purchase.”

Ford F-150

  • 2025 model starting price: $38,610

The Ford F-150 is America’s most popular vehicle, so you’re in good company when you invest in this truck. Turley said it stands out against the competition in terms of its durability and efficiency, making it a very popular choice.

“The demand for it is increasing, especially by professionals in the building and farm sectors whose daily business requires extensive towing and payload capabilities,” Turley said. “Now, thanks to current supply chain issues still facing the automotive industry and these trucks being in high demand, popular models such as the F-150 see prices that continue to rise moving into fall.”

Turley said it would be wise to buy this car now before it gets pricier.

Honda Civic

  • 2025 model starting price: $24,250

The Honda Civic is another affordable choice on this list. Erin Kemp, Bumper‘s consumer advocate, said it’s a good time to get an even better deal on the 2024 model.

“The arrival of the 2025 model leaves some dealerships in a rush to get rid of the older models which is where some consumers can benefit. It’s also a great time of year to complete safe test drives before bad weather hits the roads and makes it more nerve-wracking to drive a new car that isn’t yours yet,” Kemp said.

Cadillac CT5

  • 2025 model starting price: $47,595

This is one of the pricier vehicles on the list, but sometimes we need a little extra luxury in our lives!

“Cadillac’s classy mid-size sedan always was an intriguing alternative to well-known establishments from Audi, BMW or Mercedes-Benz,” said Aivaras Grigelevicius, automotive expert at carVertical.

However, if you’re trying to get the best deal, Grigelevicius said you should get the 2024 CT5 now, as the 2025 model just isn’t worth the high price.

“This fall, prospective CT5 buyers will face a higher price for changes that will not elevate it to the same level as more popular rivals. Minor bodywork changes and a new infotainment system are not the kind of updates that justify ignoring the more affordable 2024 models. Especially, when you consider the price differences. The base price of the 2024 model right now is only $38,395,” Grigelevicius said.

To capture the magic of the CT5 at the best possible price, you’re probably fine with purchasing the 2024 model.

Ford Mustang

  • 2025 model starting price: $33,515

“In American automotive culture, the Mustang has always offered an exceptional balance of price and performance,” Grigelevicius said.

He cautioned, however, that it’s another case where a new 2024 model delivers about the same performance as 2025 for a fraction of the price.

“When Ford dealerships begin sales of the 2025 model year Mustang, buyers will have to pay more for broadly the same car. Ford decided to increase the price of its V8 models. The price hikes between different interior trims vary from $2,600 to over $3,600,” Grigelevicius said.

Lincoln Aviator

  • 2025 model starting price: $58,880

“This fall, Lincoln dealerships will welcome a refreshed 2025 Aviator SUV,” Grigelevicius said. “Buyers will be tempted by the new front grille, larger infotainment screen, and few added luxuries, but overall, it remains the same stylish, practical, and enjoyable luxury SUV to drive.”

Grigelevicius said you’re better off spending your cash on the 2024 model.

“As of today, the price difference between the 2024 and 2025 Aviators is between $5,000 and $8,400, and I am not sure if these price changes could justify Lincoln’s efforts to improve the Aviator SUV.”

Tesla Model 3

  • 2025 model starting price: $42,000

Tunnacliffe said saving on gas is a compelling reason to buy the Tesla Model 3.

“For similar reasons to the Corolla, the Tesla Model 3 is a particularly good investment this time of year. Though expensive upfront, the Model 3 has long-term advantages, most notably savings at the pump and various government incentives surrounding EV adoption.”

Tunnacliffe added that a used option might be just as good as a new one.

“If the initial price is too steep for some buyers, opting for a used model can be a wise investment, as Model 3’s are well-built cars that can still serve drivers well even when purchased secondhand,” Tunnacliffe said.

Mazda CX-50

  • 2025 model starting price: $30,300

“Increased gas prices incentivize automakers to lower prices on larger and less fuel-efficient vehicles to remain competitive with their hybrid competition,” Tunnacliffe said. “By selecting the most fuel-efficient vehicles from the SUV class, buyers can take advantage of these drops in price without having to pay for it at the pump later on.”

Tunnacliffe feels that the Mazda CX-50 has pretty good fuel economy, making it a wise choice. Plus, it has a lot more to offer.

“In addition to good savings on fuel, the CX-50 features top-tier design and tech features, making it an excellent choice for overall value,” Tunnacliffe said.
