6 Stores That Allow Coupon Stacking

Coupons can help you score everyday products on the cheap if you know a few tricks.

And coupon stacking might be the best trick of all. It’s the practice of applying multiple coupons to a single product.

For example, here’s how I once saved on my favorite moisturizer, a 16-ounce product called CeraVe Moisturizing Cream With Pump. Yes, I must have the version with the pump, which does add to the price — I find jarred cosmetics otherwise unhygienic, among other reasons.

The cheapest price anywhere at the time I was shopping was about $15 at Amazon. I got it for $10.20 at my local CVS. The trick? I used both a store coupon and a manufacturer coupon. I also paid with a 15-percent-off discounted gift card I bought from Raise.com.

CVS is one of a handful of retailers that allow you to stack multiple coupons for a single item. We’ve found six such stores, and explain the details of how you can snag extra savings at those retailers.

Manufacturer coupons can be found on third-party sites devoted to this type of coupon, such as Coupons.com. Some companies, like CeraVe, also offer printable coupons to consumers directly on their websites.

As always, you can also cut out coupons found in the newspaper or mailings.

1. BJ’s Wholesale Club

BJ’s allows you to stack one of each of the following on a single item:

  • Manufacturer coupon

  • BJ’s store coupon

Additionally, if the item you’re buying is what BJ’s considers a multipack, you can combine multiple manufacturer coupons with a store coupon. Check out these guidelines for details on how to pull that off.

2. CVS Pharmacy

CVS allows you to stack one of each of the following:

  • Manufacturer coupon

  • CVS store coupon

CVS store coupons include what the company calls “ExtraBucks Rewards” coupons, which are received by members of the CVS free ExtraCare program. They also include coupons that you may sometimes receive with your receipt at checkout.

3. Dollar General

Dollar General allows you to stack one of each of the following:

  • Manufacturer coupon

  • Dollar General store coupon

The retailer also says the following:

The stacking of 2 or more Dollar General Coupons in a transaction is allowed unless otherwise noted on the coupon or associated promotional art.

4. Rite Aid

Rite Aid allows you to stack two or all three of the following:

  • Manufacturer coupon

  • Rite Aid Manufacturer coupon

  • Rite Aid Valuable coupon

The standard manufacturer coupons that Rite Aid accepts have a UPC barcode that begins with “5.”

What the company calls “Rite Aid Manufacturer” coupons are labeled “manufacturer coupon” and have a UPC that begins with “49.” These coupons are usually found in Rite Aid’s weekly ad and on its website. They are also emailed to customers.

Rite Aid’s store coupons, called “Rite Aid Valuable” coupons, are labeled “Valuable Coupon” and have a UPC that begins with “48.”

5. Target

Target allows you to stack two or all three of the following:

  • Manufacturer coupon

  • Target store coupon

  • Cartwheel offer

Target’s store coupons are labeled “Target Coupon.”
