5 trendy ways to renovate your BTO

To not waste your time any longer, let’s show you some design ideas that you can HAVE in your home and you won’t have to worry about your home looking boring ever again.

Mirrors

Let’s start with mirrors first, shall we? We all know that furniture plays a big role in how your home looks like. The lesser there is, the wider your space. But did you know that one of the ways to give the illusion of a bigger home is through the use of mirrors? This way, it expands tight spaces - especially for BTO homes where they are often known to be smaller in size. Mirrors help to open and brighten up your living space by bouncing off natural lights that come passing through your windows.

Depending on where you are placing it, you can line your mirrors on the walls in living rooms,as they are the best place to do so. This is where your guests will be frequenting the area the most. This is also to avoid any forms of panic attack to occur if they happen to hate small and cramp areas. Apart from faking space, mirrors can also be converted for everyday practical use too! All it takes is just one look at it to get you going!

Kitchen Island

We all have our moments where we grunt over the lack of countertop space in our kitchen. Here is where kitchen islands come in handy! Kitchen islands are great if you want to have that additional preparation space as a home chef. You have all the space to whip your favourite pasta from scratch and you don’t have to fight for space anymore.

Apart from that, islands are perfect to store any pots and pans that you can’t find any room for in your kitchen and you can even have your conventional oven installed with it too! A total good investment if you ask me!

Lastly, this feature is apt if you don’t wish to purchase any dining table for fear of space constraint as you can makeshift it into an unsuspecting dining table while at it! Not only do you save space, you get to save some bucks too!

Open Concept Kitchen

While we are at the topic of kitchen, it is only right that we discuss it further. You have probably heard about home trends such as open concept living spaces that have been on the rise as of late. With the space constraint, many homeowners are going for unconventional ideas that were not introduced back then, into their homes.

Take for example, this open concept kitchen; although it is still shrouded by a wall partition, the clear glass acts as a tool to monitor the surroundings in your living room. If you have kids, this will be the coolest thing to have in your home as you can still keep a look out for them without being blocked by the walls. Although it may seem constricted due to the presence of the walls, make-do with a glass door to add a roomier vibe instead of just concrete walls blanketing your kitchen.

Did we mention how similar it looks to a restaurant kitchen where you can observe them preparing your food? Cool, isn’t it?

Walk in wardrobe

Alas, one of the features that every girl dreams of has finally made its way to even the smallest spaces of HDB flat! Yes, it is possible to have your very own walk-in closet/wardrobe now albeit it not being as largeas what you see on television shows. After all, you have to put into consideration the size of BTO flats.

Walk-in wardrobes are beneficial because they provide you with extra storage space that may not be available in just a normal one and it would also be easier to find your clothes and accessories due to the ample space there is. However, if you are afraid of dust collecting on the shelves of your wardrobes, opt for sliding glass door to accompany your walk-in, so that it could prevent dust from floating in to your clothes. Furthermore, this glass door will act as a partition to hide away the clutter in your closet!

Fancy lighting

Last but not least, a definite must-have in every household – attractive lightings. Whatever you choose, ensure that it stands out from the rest of your normal lighting. Adding a fancy lighting will help to spruce up your interior almost instantaneously because it acts as a statement piece in your household.

Often, homeowners will purchase mini chandeliers for their living room as it adds a touch of grandeur to their abode. But if you are the kind that prefers quirky stuff that is unique, go for statement lightings with a unique twist to it. Not only will it light up your interior beautifully, it can be a decorative piece too.

You don’t have to actually spend so much to create a beautiful home; sometimes it is just in the way you choose your furnishings. Always ensure that you consult with your interior designers beforehand to ensure that your ideas will be conveyed smoothly. No one wants a shabby looking interior after spending thousands of dollars and it is equally important that you establish a good working relation with your designers to achieve your dream home beautifully.
