Even if you limit yourself to Manhattan and forgo the trip to the city's four other boroughs, it's easy to spend an entire week exploring Gotham's art scene. The Renwick

Not only does The Renwick celebrate art -- it encourages guests to unleash their inner creativity. Located in midtown Manhattan, the hotel features themed suites, including Creators Suites and an Artist's Suite that comes fully stocked with a blank canvas and painting supplies. And instead of traditional "Do Not Disturb" signs, each room has DIY origami door hangers guests can fold to indicate their preferences. The theme carries over to the hotel's common areas, which are decorated with artwork from 19 New Yorkers who use contemporary mediums such as graffiti and paint splatters to pay homage to the city's world-famous street art and glamorous, art-centric past. The property originally opened in 1928 as an artist's loft and welcomed notable literary luminaries, such as John Steinbeck, Ernest Hemingway, Thomas Mann and F. Scott Fitzgerald. And in an ode to its storied past, the property features famous quotes from literary icons in its guest rooms. Night rates start at $459.
