2025 Lincoln Aviator Is a Reworked Package With 400 HP and Rear-Wheel Drive
The 2025 Lincoln Aviator represents the first refresh of the SUV since the second-generation model returned to the market in 2019. Like its Ford-branded sibling, the new SUV, unveiled Monday, benefits from a more attractive front facia, improved interior tech, and the BlueCruise ADAS system.
Under the revised skin sits the CD6 Platform utilized by the Ford Explorer, providing rear-wheel drive as standard. Customers can opt for the brand’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive setup should they require more surefootedness. Every Aviator features the 3.0-liter EcoBoost V-6 engine, providing 400 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque. That figure matches the output of the Explorer’s most potent ST offering. The automaker’s 10-speed automatic transmission backs the turbocharged mill. Wheel options range from 20 to 22 inches depending on the trim level. Select the optional Dynamic Handling Package and the SUV will benefit from an upgraded air suspension system, which brings features like a dynamic entry height and an adaptive steering system.
Like with the new Explorer, the exterior of this refreshed Lincoln SUV remains largely familiar. The front grille is now larger and extends higher than before, reaching the top of the reworked headlights. Daytime running lights act as accents below the headlights, pushing into that Lincoln crest-inspired grille. The lower fascia is now dominated by a set of air curtains, which enhance the wide look of the truck. Higher trim models also receive the Illumination Package, which includes adaptive pixel LED lights, a lighted Lincoln star, as well as speed-dependent and bending lighting elements. While not the most aggressive mid-cycle refresh we’ve ever seen, the SUV is a better-looking option than its predecessor.
The 2025 Aviator range consists of three trim levels: Premier, Reserve, and the range-topping Black Label. Regardless of your trim selection, the interior of the SUV is dominated by the Lincoln Digital Experience system. This setup combines a 12.4-inch digital gauge cluster with a 13.2-inch central infotainment screen, backed by graphics made in Unreal Engine. Google Assistant and Amazon’s Alexa are both on hand to accept voice requests, while Android Auto and Apple CarPlay allow for seamless device integration.
There are four standard interior color palettes available for customers to choose from: onyx, Light Space gray, Harvest bronze with onyx accents, and Hot Chocolate with onyx accents. Available themes also include the blacked-out Black Label Invitation setup, as well as the airy Flight theme complete with softer shades. Black Label models will automatically come equipped with heated and ventilated front and second-row seating, but that hardware is optional on Reserve. The Luxury Package is a requirement for those seeking the most refinement, bringing extras like 30-way adjustable seats and a 28-speaker Revel Ultima audio system. This year also marks the first time that Ford’s Blue Cruise Adaptive Driver Assistance System will be offered across the Aviator lineup.
Order books for the new SUV are now open, with production at Ford’s Chicago Assembly plant slated to take place shortly. Customers can expect vehicles to start arriving on showroom floors this summer.
