2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Will Be Revealed Tonight to the World

New Chevy Corvette ZR1 Will Be Revealed TonightChevrolet
  • The 2025 Chevy Corvette ZR1 will be revealed at 7:30 p.m. EST tonight.

  • The latest ZR1 is expected to be the wildest Vette yet, with every generation raising the performance bar higher and higher.

  • Chevy has previously released a teaser video that provides a preview of the ZR1's exhaust note as well as a silhouette.

The history of the Corvette is long. It's so long, in fact, that the first model dates back to before Car and Driver, a time when this publication was known as Sports Car Illustrated in the summer of 1955. And while everything from the shape of the car to the placement of the engine has changed, one thing has remained throughout the Corvette's 71-year history—advancement. Tonight at 7:30 p.m. Eastern time, Chevrolet will introduce the world to the 2025 Corvette ZR1, which is sure to continue the trend of raising the performance bar.

Every new generation of Corvette has pushed the proverbial performance envelope, adding power, improving handling, and constantly breathing down the neck of Europe's best sports cars.

When it comes to the ZR1, the most recent version of the ultimate Corvette was offered for the seventh generation, and it blew the doors off the models that came before it. The C7 ZR1's supercharged LT5 6.2-liter V-8 produced a monstrous 755 horsepower and 715 pound-feet of torque. In our testing, the 2019 Corvette ZR1 hit 60 mph in 3.0 seconds, and Chevy even drove one to a top speed of 212 mph. The optional ZTK Performance package dropped the top speed to 202 mph, but it also helped the ZR1 achieve 950 pounds of downforce, turning it into a serious weapon on the track.

Before that, the C6 Corvette ZR1 featured a 638-hp supercharged LS9 6.2-liter V-8, which was a sizable step up from the C4 ZR1. That top-spec Vette had a comparatively humble naturally aspirated LT5 5.7-liter V-8 that made between 375 and 405 horsepower from the factory, depending on the model year.

While details on the C8-generation's ZR1 remain under wraps, the company has released a teaser video, complete with a silhouette and exhaust note. Based on the performance of the C8 Z06, Chevy's engineers will have produced a premium sports car that's even more exciting. Plus, if the Corvette's long history has proven anything, it's that the next Vette is the best Vette.

Unfortunately, there's no livestream for the 2025 ZR1 reveal, but check back with Car and Driver at 7:30 p.m. EST for all the details on the Corvette's new top dog.
