2017 Mazda 6 priced from $22,780

Mazda has released pricing for its updated 6 mid-size sedan, which sees a modest boost to $22,830—but also more features for 2017.

That $22,780 figure includes a mandatory $835 destination charge (which is up $5 from last year, in case you're counting).

We've detailed the 2017 Mazda 6 extensively in our full review, but the CliffsNotes version is this: changes for 2017 are centered largely around interior updates and a new G-Vectoring Control system that essentially operates like trail-braking.

As before, Mazda offers its decidedly sporty 6 in three trim levels—Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring. A 6-speed manual is standard on Sport and Touring, while the 6-speed automatic that is standard on Grand Touring is optional on the lower trims.

Buyers can spiff up a Touring with one of two packages: one ($1,325) that contains a Bose audio system and a moonroof and another ($1,425) that adds adaptive LED headlamps, heated front seats, and auto-dimming rearview mirrors. The range-topping Grand Touring comes well equipped with navigation and perforated leather seats, but a new Premium Package ($2,500) delivers Nappa leather seats with a unique stitching pattern and the automaker's Formula One-derived i-eLoop regenerative braking system that conserves a little fuel (and makes you feel slightly more inclined to head to Austin's Circuit of the Americas).

Here's a look at 2017 Mazda 6 base prices by trim level, including destination:

  • Sport $22,780

  • Touring $25,030

  • Grand Touring $31,530

Adding the automatic transmission to the Sport and Touring bumps their prices up $1,050.

Opt for a Grand Touring with the Premium Package and a new Machine Gray Metallic paint (that requires a $300 upcharge) and you'll top out at $34,330. That's not a bad value for what's knocking on mid-size luxury car territory in terms of equipment.
