2017 Jeep Compass Trailhawk and Limited revealed

Motor Authority

Jeep on Monday unveiled its 2017 Compass, the replacement for both the existing Compass as well as the Patriot.

Jeep only released a handful of photos following the unveiling but more photos plus video have since emerged on the automaker’s media site for Brazil. The new photos reveal the Trailhawk off-roader as well as the Limited model.

As expected, the Compass Trailhawk gets a number of Jeep’s familiar off-roading kit such as tow hooks, raised suspension and the Jeep Selec-Terrain driving modes selector. The vehicle also likely adopts the Jeep Active Drive Low 4x4 systems from the Renegade Trailhawk. The two vehicles are platform mates, after all.

The sole transmission may end up being a 9-speed automatic, though customers will be able to choose from a variety of inline-4 engines, the most potent likely to be a new turbocharged 2.0-liter nicknamed the Hurricane. In Brazil, there will be a turbocharged 2.0-liter diesel with approximately 167 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.

The new Compass will make its North American debut in November at the 2016 Los Angeles auto show. It’s possible the compact SUV will also be present at the 2016 Paris auto show kicking off tomorrow.

Production will take place at plants in Toluca, Mexico and Pernambuco, Brazil. Sales have been confirmed to start in the first quarter of 2017.
