Peyton Manning visits scene of Chattanooga mass shooting

Peyton Manning visits scene of Chattanooga mass shooting

If this indeed is Peyton Manning's final season playing football, the NFL will lose one of its most thoughtful, altruistic and charitable people.

According to WRCB (h/t Washington Post), the Denver Broncos quarterback spent Saturday night visiting the Naval Marine Corps Reserve Center in Chattanooga, Tenn. where four U.S. Marines were shot and killed on Thursday.

One Naval sailor died from his injuries, and a police officer remains hospitalized. Manning arrived at the reserve late Saturday night and visited with military personnel and police officers, according to WRCB.

The Chattanooga police posted photos of Manning's visit on Facebook.

Manning's charitable heart knows no bounds. Yes, he went to college at the University of Tennessee, but Manning frequently goes out of his way to offer support and help to myriad charitable causes — even when it's just making an appearance for people who need their spirits lifted.

He was the former NFL Man of the Year in 2005 and easily could be given the award for an unprecedented second time before Manning calls it quits. His good-deed doing likely, though, will go on well past his NFL career if his track record is any indication.
