UBS 'bang on target' with Credit Suisse integration, IT chief says
UBS's integration of former rival Credit Suisse's clients and data with its own platforms is "bang on target" after a successful test run, its tech chief told Reuters. UBS CEO Sergio Ermotti has previously flagged that IT integration is one of the biggest risks facing UBS as it embarks on the second, trickier phase of merging with its fallen rival, after acquiring it in an emergency rescue deal last year. Ermotti said in May that any delay to the IT integration would hit cost savings the Swiss banking giant has pledged to generate.

Chinese carmaker Chery has started assembling cars in Russia for sale in the country at three factories vacated by Western rivals including Volkswagen and Mercedes, five people familiar with the matter told Reuters. Chinese carmakers have grabbed more than half of Russia's car market in terms of sales since most Western counterparts abandoned the country following Moscow's February 2022 invasion of Ukraine. Now, they are extending their reach to account for more of Russia's domestic production, too, highlighting how Beijing is playing a more influential role in Russia's changing manufacturing landscape and economy since the invasion.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will visit Moldova on Thursday for talks with pro-Western President Maia Sandu in a gesture of support ahead of the country's Oct. 20 presidential election and EU referendum. Sandu is seeking a second presidential term in an election being held alongside a referendum on enshrining EU membership as a "strategic goal" in the constitution. Moldovan police have alleged serious Russian election interference, something Moscow denies.
