Strat Tower Struck By Lightning During Las Vegas Thunderstorm

The iconic Strat tower in Las Vegas, Nevada, was struck by lightning as severe thunderstorms swept across the city on July 25.

Vanessa Gamino was staying in the nearby Sahara Las Vegas Hotel & Casino when she captured a lightning bolt strike the tower.

According to local reports, the Strat hotel is Las Vegas’ tallest structure and was built to withstand lightning, equipped with several rods “that isolate strikes and ground them.” Credit: Vanessa Gamino via Storyful
