Stocks moving in after hours: WW International, Nutanix

Yahoo Finance Live’s Seana Smith examines several stocks trending in the after-hours trading session.

Video Transcript

SEANA SMITH: Dave, we've got two stocks for you here, WW International and Nutanix. Kicking it off with WW International, better known as Weight Watchers, we're looking at a pop of just about 6% here. A lot of that has to do with a new deal from the company. They're buying a company called Sequence.

If you're not familiar with it, this is what some are framing as WW, Weight Watchers' move here into the Ozempic market. So Sequence is a digital health care company, offers telehealth visits with doctors who can prescribe weight loss drugs similar to Ozempic. It's a diabetes drug that is used also for weight loss. That's a big reason why we're looking at gains of just about 6% here in extended trading.

In terms of its most recent quarter, those numbers leaving a lot to be desired. Wider than expected loss. Revenue missing estimates, off 19% year over year. Subscribers totaling 3 and 1/2 million. That's a decline of nearly 8% quarter over quarter. So I think some of the hype around the deal to buy Sequence, that's why we're seeing shares move to the upside. Over the last three months, stock essentially flat, off just about 2%. Over the last year, though, under tremendous amount of pressure, losing just about 57%.

Take a look at Nutanix. That stock off just about 3 and 1/2% here after-hours. The [AUDIO OUT] the company delaying its 10-Q filing, saying that they are looking into a matter involving their evaluation software from a third party provider.

That is going to prevent them from filing their 10-Q on time. That's putting pressure on the stock here after-hours. In terms of its most recent results, it did issue preliminary second quarter results. That did come in, revenue did come in higher than expected. They also updated their full year guidance.

And when it comes to that, they raised their full year revenue forecast, which also beat the Street's expectations. So maybe keeping some of those after-hours losses in check, off just about nearly 4%. Over the last year, though, Nutanix is in the green, up just about 15%.
