[BELL RINGING, CHEERING]

BRAD SMITH: And McCormick, the spice kings, ringing that opening bell. They've got great spices. You know I love my spices. I'm still upset you didn't give me some spices when you were in Seattle last year.

BRIAN SOZZI: [LAUGHS] I can't do everything, I guess.

BRAD SMITH: The Pike Place Market spices, the fish stuff.

JULIE HYMAN: Yeah? I actually used to live not too far from a McCormick plant, and you could definitely get the wafts of spices.

BRIAN SOZZI: That's kind of cool.

JULIE HYMAN: It was kind of cool--

BRAD SMITH: That is cool.

JULIE HYMAN: --indeed. So those folks ringing the opening bell this morning on this mixed session that we have seen thus far. So, Brad, what are we seeing as we get underway this morning?

BRAD SMITH: Yeah, chili flakes spice start to the morning here. We're seeing some red on the day. Out of the gate, the Dow is down by about half a percent. You're also seeing the NASDAQ Composite. Let me populate this chart for you here. Past two days down in aggregate by about 1%.

Flat, just barely to the upside right now, though. We'll see if we hold on to some of those early morning gains for the tech-heavy average. S&P 500, you're seeing that to the downside by about a quarter of a percent right now. Over the past two days, down 9/10 of percent. We're going to take a look at some of those sectors here early, early in the morning, early in today's trading activity, just after the opening crossed.

11 S&P 500 sectors here. And yeah, let's put this on a intraday a view for you there. And we've got more laggards than leaders. As of right now, though, energy, you're seeing that up by about 6/10 of a percent. But take a look at this. Interesting. Technology, that's up by about 2/10 of a percent here on the day, coming into, of course, what's going to be a big Fed speak week, or at least period, for the next few days here.

And then, additionally, some of the biggest laggards that we're seeing right now-- XLRE, that's down by about 1.4%. We'll ride out with a quick look at the NASDAQ 100 here for some of those megacap tech stocks. You're seeing them a little mixed. Apple, early morning waffling there on the day. Investors deciding whether or not they want to take a bite of the Apple. But Microsoft, that's up by about 1.4% as of right now.
