Runaway Boat Wreaks Havoc on Mission Bay, San Diego

A day in the sun went awry for beachgoers in San Diego on May 23 when a runaway motorboat wreaked havoc on Mission Bay.

Local media reported that the motorboat’s occupants were flung overboard when the operator lost control.

In dramatic footage captured by three-times US National Boxing Champion, Danyelle Wolf, the boat can be seen circling uncontrollably as swimmers head for land.

Before authorities could reach the rogue vessel it collided with a sail boat. According to Wolf, the sail boat was operated by two boys — one of which sustained head injuries from the crash. No fatalities were reported from the incident. Credit: Danyelle Wolf via Storyful
