Residents Urged to Prepare to Leave as Fraser Island Bushfire Threatens Resort

Residents and staff at Fraser Island’s Kingfisher Bay Resort and Village were urged to prepare to leave on Tuesday, December 1, as a raging fire reached more than 80,000 hectares.

“You need to be ready to follow your bushfire survival plan,” the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said. “If you do not have a plan, or intend to leave, you should be ready to leave the area because the situation could get worse quickly.”
