Pat Sajak ‘almost lost it’ after contestant questions ‘Wheel of Fortune’ puzzle: ‘Ungrateful players! I’ve had it!’

38 years after his mother appeared on “Wheel of Fortune,” contestant Darin McBain spun the Wheel Wednesday night. And he did really well, especially on a crossword puzzle for things that start with the word “kitchen.” He correctly guessed, “Cabinet, towels, oven, sink.” However, after winning, McBain questioned one of the puzzle answers.

“Kitchen oven?” asked McBain. “What was that? Who calls it a "kitchen oven?”

Many fans agreed with McBain, with several taking to Twitter to voice their support, but host Pat Sajak was not in agreement. In fact, he blasted McBain for even questioning the puzzle.

“Don't!” Sajak exclaimed. “You won! Don't argue, Darin!...You got the puzzle. Ungrateful players! I've had it!” Sajak was only teasing, but he did admit “I finally snapped.”

At the end of the show he apologized for the earlier outburst, saying, “I'm sorry I yelled at you, Darin. It’s just -- I don't remember your mother giving us trouble like you did.”

Video Transcript

DARIN MCBAIN: Vanna's very first show, my mom was a three day champion back in 1982.

PAT SAJAK: Oh that's right. You used to be able to sit here for three days. And they wanted you to bring changes of clothes because we would do the shows in the same day.

DARIN MCBAIN: Yeah, exactly.

PAT SAJAK: And yet the family members would run out with the same old clothes for three days.

- 38 years after his mother appeared on Wheel of Fortune, contestant Darin McBain spun the wheel Wednesday night. And he did really well, especially on a crossword puzzle for things that start with the word kitchen.

DARIN MCBAIN: Cabinet, towels, oven, sink.

PAT SAJAK: Got them all, yes sir.

DARIN MCBAIN: Kitchen oven? What was that?

PAT SAJAK: Yeah, where else would you keep an oven?

DARIN MCBAIN: Well for sure in the kitchen, but who calls it a kitchen oven?

- Most viewers seems to agree with Darin's point, including one fan who tweeted, kitchen oven is like saying bathroom toilet. However, host Pat Sajak didn't appreciate Darin questioning his puzzles.

PAT SAJAK: Don't- you won. Don't argue Darin. You got the puzzle. Ungrateful players, I've had it. No, I'm just teasing. Yes, I finally snapped.

- Many fans thought Pat having none of it was hilarious, while some viewers thought it was a bit much, like this person who tweeted, oh my Pat Sajak almost lost it on this dude. Perhaps Pat felt a little guilty about the outburst, because at the end of the game, he offered Darin a light-hearted apology.

PAT SAJAK: I'm sorry I yelled at you, Darin.

DARIN MCBAIN: I started that.

PAT SAJAK: I just don't remember your mother giving us trouble like you did.

DARIN MCBAIN: She would never do that.

PAT SAJAK: Hey, congratulations. Nice job.
