Pale Octopus Pair Mate in Fascinating Deep Sea Footage

An Australian sea diver captured stunning footage of two pale octopuses mating off the coast of Port Phillip Bay, Victoria.

Video shared by diver Jules Casey shows a male pale octopus pose with two tentacles in the air as a female pale octopus curls her tentacles into a spiral and slowly inches towards he male.

Casey said the female octopus reached out and gently touched the male, who responded by “jumping on top of her” and mating “for well beyond 30 minutes.” Credit: Jules Casey via Storyful
