Lucid stock slides as EV deliveries slip, Marathon Digital rallies as bitcoin rises above $30,000

Yahoo Finance Live’s Brad Smith discusses the decline in stock for Lucid and Bitcoin’s rally.

BRAD SMITH: All right, everyone, we got to take a look at some trending tickers that we're watching for you on the day. Well, we've got the full list pulled up here for you. But I did want to scroll on down to one of them that was getting a ton of attention earlier on, as things are kind of moving around as people are continuing those searches on Yahoo Finance. Let's take a look at Lucid first. And we'll kind of pair this together between Lucid and Rivian, Soz.

We had been tracking this one earlier on today. Lucid right now, that's down by about 9%. I did want to get back over to Rivian, though, and really showcase what is taking place there. Of course, as we continue to track-- and I'll just go over to the EVs here-- Rivian, that's down by about 5 and-- 5.2% right now. And this was off of one of the calls that we're seeing, really, this activity stemmed through from as well.

BRIAN SOZZI: What was interesting about the Piper Sandler call on Rivian, they said Rivian is going to need a capital raise. It was right at the top of the report. Now, Rivian has pushed back on this view that it will need to raise more capital to achieve what it wants to achieve, which is making EV trucks at scale. So a big callout by Piper Sandler. And that person was a long time bull. So very-- just not good.

BRAD SMITH: And important to remember the paring through for a company like Rivian and Lucid. Of course, they're at the higher tier in terms of the pricing strategy that they have for anything from the Rivian R1T or their pickup truck, their electrified pickup truck. And Lucid also at the high end price tier of that. That's down by about 9% here on the day as well.

And then just lastly, I want to take a look at some of the crypto. I was keeping tabs on Marathon earnings. If you're on the Trending Tickers part of our website, you'll see Marathon on the move. That's one of the top trending. Ethereum, that actually is up 5% on the day. That's just got its Shanghai upgrade completed as well. So we're seeing some movement in that cryptocurrency landscape as well. Ethereum one of the outsized moves.
