'Be Kind': Travelers return to Highway 50 day after evacuees came home

Highway 50 reopened Tuesday morning to the general public, roughly one month after the Caldor Fire forced its closure. The day prior, officials allowed evacuees who lived along the highway to return first. Martha Borges is the manager of Fresh Pond Petro along Highway 50 in Pollock Pines. Her business is a known stop for many people gassing up on their way to Lake Tahoe. When asked about what the highway reopening could mean for her business, she said she has "high hopes."
