On Wednesday, the Food and Drug Administration backed Johnson & Johnson’s single-dose coronavirus vaccine as safe and effective, supporting its authorization for emergency use.

JULIE HYMAN: And as we take you to break, just wanted to mention one other developing story that we continue to watch this morning, and that has to do with Johnson & Johnson, the shares up 1.4%. The Food and Drug Administration staff said in documents out this morning that the company's one-shot COVID-19 vaccine appears safe and effective in trials. This is as expected, and this paves the way for approval of that vaccine, which is likely to be used probably more outside of the US than within it.
