Historically Wet Monsoon Season Sends Water Churning Through Tucson

Monsoon weather continued to douse Arizona with rain on July 25, creating flooding around Tucson, Arizona, where often-dry river beds overflowed with churning water.

Tucson’s monsoon season has been historically wet. On July 25, the National Weather Service had measured more rainfall in the city through that date than in any other year on record.

This footage shows roiling water flowing in the Pantano Wash — a large, usually dry, riverbed that passes through Tucson — near E Broadway Blvd. Elsewhere in the city, water rushing through the Pantano Washo overwhelmed lower lying roads. Credit: Alanna Mejia via Storyful
