Green Party has ‘dropped the ball’ amid rising voter focus on climate

Canada’s Green Party has “dropped the ball” under leader Annamie Paul, according to Tom Rand, managing partner at ArcTern Ventures and author of the book Climate Capitalism.

The party faces serious challenges despite climate change, the Green’s signature issue, taking a top spot in the minds of a growing number of voters. The Green’s website continues to feature the party’s 2019 platform. Paul does not have a seat in Parliament, and her leadership has been the subject of a legal challenge from senior party officials.

“They’re just not showing the maturity that you need to show as a serious national party at the table,” Rand told Yahoo Finance Canada’s Editor’s Edition on Aug. 24. “They did show that maturity under [former leader Elisabeth] May. I don't see it today. It’s too bad.”
