Dozens Arrested During Daunte Wright Protests in Brooklyn Center

Protesters and police faced off outside the police department in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, as demonstrations over the death of Daunte Wright were held for a third consecutive night.

“Upwards of 60” people were arrested for riot and criminal behavior during the evening’s protest, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Public safety officials issued three dispersal warnings on April 13 and said protesters who did not leave the area would be arrested.

Demonstrations began in Brooklyn Center after a police officer fatally shot Daunte Wright during a traffic stop on April 11. Police Chief Tim Gannon described the shooting as an “accidental discharge”, saying to reporters that the officer in question drew a hand gun instead of a Taser. Credit: mandalore_mattv2 via Storyful
