Demonstrators Protest School Mask Guidelines in Denver Suburb

Demonstrators rallied outside the Jefferson County Public Health Department in the Denver suburb of Lakewood, Colorado, on August 4, after the health department recommended mandatory mask-wearing in county schools.

This video taken by Denise Mund outside the health department building shows a group of protesters chanting “choice not force.”

The health department issued guidelines on July 30 stating that individuals at schools “should be required to wear masks when indoors, regardless of vaccination status.”

A Facebook event page for the protest said Jefferson County parents should be “given the same ability as surrounding districts to choose” whether or not their children wear masks in schools. Credit: Denise Mund via Storyful
