Chipotle, e.l.f Beauty makeup collaboration sells out on Chipotle Goods site in 11 minutes

Yahoo Finance's Brooke DiPalma got an inside look at the new collaboration, dubbed 'e.l.f x Chipotle,' which includes a make up set with names designed to reference Chipotle's menu: Eyeshadow Palette ($16); Make it Hot Lip Gloss ($8); Extra Guac Sponge Set ($10) and Eyes Chips Face Makeup Bag ($18). She also shares details around the day-of release, Chipotle's new quesadilla and Taco Bell's new Quesalupa menu item.

ALEXIS CHRISTOFOROUS: Well, here's an unlikely partnership for you. ELF Cosmetics is teaming up with Chipotle for some new products. And our Brooke DiPalma got a chance to test them out. Brooke, from what I understand-- oh, first of all, we obviously got the red memo today. But from what I understand, these products sold out within minutes.

BROOKE DIPALMA: Alexis, within minutes, these products sold out on Chipotlegoods.com. They are also available on the virtual shopping platform network. Now, in addition, ELF Beauty gave a sneak peek to beauty members yesterday, and within 44 minutes, the extra guac sponge, in addition to the Eyes, Chip, Face Makeup Bag, completely sold out. The only thing left on the ELF Beauty site is, indeed, that eyeshadow palette.

Now these four makeup products that comprise of this makeup collection, a unique one at that, also getting the attention of Gen Z. Specifically, just yesterday, Gen Z makeup influencer James Charles did do a review.

ALEXIS CHRISTOFOROUS: Wow, so cool. Now I know that you are wearing part of this collection. Show us that.

BROOKE DIPALMA: That's right, Alexis. So Elf Beauty and Chipotle did, in fact, give me a sneak peek. So I want to get a closer up. So I'm going to turn to my camera over here, just to show you guys that this makeup palette is, in fact, in line of the Chipotle lane.

Now what I'm wearing specifically is Pinto Beans on the crease, White Rice right there in the immediate eye, Fajita on the side, a little bit of Black Beans around the last line, and then just a touch, just a touch of Guac on the inside. So, as you can see, this very unique collaboration is selling out completely and gaining that attention.

ALEXIS CHRISTOFOROUS: All right, just don't get the guac in your eye, and you'll be fine. But you really pull it off well. The colors look great on you. OK, so Chipotle also dropped a new menu item, but it's only for-- is it only for delivery? How does that go?

BROOKE DIPALMA: Alexis, it's only for online consumer.

ALEXIS CHRISTOFOROUS: Oh, OK.

BROOKE DIPALMA: So you have to order it through delivery in order to get it or pick up. Now this is a part of more members, more consumers shopping and ordering their food online. Actually, Taco Bell just announced today that they're relaunching a 2016 quesalupa with a similar method-- announced today those reward members can access it, but tomorrow, it'll officially be on the menu. And that's a cheesy 2016 remix that they currently have going out today.

ALEXIS CHRISTOFOROUS: Have you had a chance to try that out?

BROOKE DIPALMA: I have. It is a chalupa stuffed with mozzarella and pepper jack cheese. And then, in addition to that, it has all the Taco Bell fan favorites, like the beef and the lettuce and the tomato. And I have to say, it's a bit too cheesy for me, you know? But I am a fan, so we'll see how it does. I'm sure it'll debut great.

ALEXIS CHRISTOFOROUS: You know, I know that you had a chance to talk to the team over at ELF. How did this Chipotle partnership even come to be? Because I mean, we've been talking about how this is sort of like an unlikely pairing, right? Are they going to do other things together, especially after the fact that they had all their product sell out so quickly?

BROOKE DIPALMA: Alexis, I have to say year over year, both Chipotle and ELF Beauty are doing really well. And that's because they're really catering toward the Gen Z consumer. Back in May, they initially launched a collaboration between ELF Beauty and Chipotle. Now originally, that was using already existing colors.

But in this new palette, they decided to do all new colors. And since that one did so well, they did stock up and have extra of the collection. But like we mentioned before, it already sold out. So that just goes to show who exactly the Gen Z consumer is. They're interested in this very unique collaboration, and it's doing really well for the company as it continues to meet the consumer at home where they are at.

ALEXIS CHRISTOFOROUS: That little-- the bag-- the little makeup bag is adorable.

BROOKE DIPALMA: I have one.

ALEXIS CHRISTOFOROUS: Because it looks like those little bags they put the chips in at Chipotle.

BROOKE DIPALMA: That's right, and also, too, I do want to note, this lip gloss looks a lot darker. It looks like my dress. But as you can see, it's just a light shimmer.

ALEXIS CHRISTOFOROUS: OK, like, you are just all about it today with that ELF--

BROOKE DIPALMA: I really am. I'm kind of into this.
