Amazon to hold 2nd Prime Day, SiriusXM halts Brett Favre show, Kia and Hyundai sued over hot wiring

BRAD SMITH: Another one. Amazon Prime customers will get another round of Prime Day deals next month. The company announced a second Prime Day sale event that's going to take place October 11th and 12th. This is the first time Amazon has held two Prime Days or prime events in one year. Some are viewing this as a way for Amazon to kick off holiday shopping in the face of slowing sales. And SiriusXM has reportedly halted Brett Favre's weekly NFL radio show. Favre has co-hosted the show with Bruce Murray since 2018. This is in the wake of Favre facing allegations of misspending state funds that were supposed to go towards low-income communities. Mississippi filed the lawsuit alleging Favre and others funneled more than $20 million through a non-profit for personal funds. Favre has yet to be charged with the crime and denies the allegations.

Kia and Hyundai, they have a lawsuit on their hands after a viral TikTok video showed how certain makes and models can be hotwired using only a USB cord and a screwdriver. Since the video was posted this summer, vehicle thefts are up for Kias and Hyundais made between 2010 and 2021. Now, theft victims are suing the automakers in a national class action lawsuit. The suit alleges models equipped with traditional key engines were built without immobilizers, which is a part that's used to prevent cars from being hotwired. It goes on to say virtually every carmaker uses this piece except for Kia and Hyundai. Hyundai said it will start selling and installing security kits to protect against this kind of theft.
