    How do wastewater treatment plants currently treat for ammonia?

     

    Biological treatment:

    Negatives:

    1.       in the winter time, bio treatment is incapable of meeting new wastewater treatment guidelines and therefore results in high discharges in ammonia and other nitrogen compounds

    2.       produces the worst greenhouse gas -  nitrous oxide; in addition to contributing to warming, this  compound also destroys ozone,

    3.       Large footprint - cost of land  

     

    Is the co’s ammonia treatment an add-on or a replacement for existing ammonia treatment at wastewater plants? If replacement, how disruptive is the swap-out?

     

    It is an add on to existing wastewater treatment plants

     

     

    Is the co’s ammonia treatment all custom designed or is it modular where individual units can be added together to scale up?

     

    Although it is in principle a custom designed system based on the waste water daily flow rate and ammonia concentration, the plant would consist of modules, the larger the plant the greater the number of modules.

     

    If the co’s ammonia treatment solution for a community of 400,000 is $10 million what is the cost for a town of 40,000? A town of 4,000?

     

    In general terms, the cost trend for the tertiary treatment of ammonia wastewater can be close to be being linear. However, there is generally a capital cost reduction with scaleup of equipment.

    Assuming the ammonia concentration of municipal waste water in Canada is similar and all other conditions are equal, one would expect the cost for a plant to treat 100 million litres per day to be perhaps 6 -8 times more expensive than a plant to treat 10 million litres per day.

     

    What is the typical gross margin for the ammonia solution?

     

    25 – 50%

     

     Why doesn’t the co. report gross profit in its income statements?

     

    Actual gross margins per project are confidential in order to maximize a corporation's success of securing contracts.

    Sent to me by Gene & MarKus this morning. This is what our AMMEL-H2 that Highland has right now.

    All municipal wastewater contains ammonia, which is highly toxic to aquatic species and causes severe algae blooms if released to the environment. In Canada, only about 25% of the population is served by wastewater treatment plants that treat ammonia (no wonder so many lakes have turned green). And when ammonia is treated, it’s typically only converted to nitrate by bacteria (which is also toxic to humans!!). The major reasons for not installing more ammonia treatment is cost and operational complexity. Without adequate investment into our waste water treatment infrastructure, the water quality of our lakes and rivers will continue to degrade. Alternatively, what if you could turn ammonia into air (literally -- by converting it to nitrogen gas) and produce a green fuel (hydrogen) as a byproduct? That is the technology that Current Water has developed, and it operates on the principle of electrolyzing the ammonia waste. The hydrogen is versatile and can be used for whatever. You can burn it on site to produce energy for the treatment facility, or you could sell it to industries that need it (like the fertilizer or petrochemical industries). You can also use it to power fuel cell vehicles. The point is that you’re making ammonia treatment viable and lucrative for the first time, ever.

    I guess you can say this is a big deal and is amazing to get in a company and stock at this price. Cheers

    Pumptronics - Accelerating Sales in Emerging Commercial Rainwater/Stormwater Management Sector – New Sales of $400,000 in Sept./Oct.

    GUELPH, Ontario, Oct. 26, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Current Water Technologies Inc. (TSX-V: WATR) ("CWTI" or "the Company" or "the Corporation"), Pumptronics division receives new sales totalling $400,000 in September/October.
    Notably, the Company’s recent sales include sustained/multiple sales within the City of Toronto. Sales to large municipalities in Ontario is an emerging trend for the Pumptronics Division, which had historically served the golf industry and the small municipality market. In 2016, several Ontario cities, including Toronto and Mississauga, enacted legislation to charge property owners for the transport and treatment of stormwater (rainwater, surface runoff, and groundwater) discharged to municipal sewers. To reduce the annual charges, municipalities have encouraged new construction projects to add the infrastructure necessary to capture and reuse rainwater for green space irrigation and/or non-potable requirements. This important water management initiative contributes to the sustainability of urban communities as green terraces and roof top gardens become common place.
    The City of Toronto is the first city in North America to mandate green roofs on all large buildings. The over 700 green roofs provide space for farming and recreation. Onsite stormwater management is an economical, sustainable and vital infrastructure to help in reducing the use of potable water for landscape irrigation, and the burden on municipal water supplies and wastewater systems.

    Since late 2020, Pumptronics has dedicated resources to develop custom products and services for the commercial property stormwater management sector in Ontario. A total of 48 quotations has been issued for stormwater pumping systems in this emerging market, totalling approximately $1,600,000. In September/October alone, Pumptronics has received purchase orders for 5 Rainwater Harvesting Pumping Systems and expects to secure numerous additional sales before year-end.
