Oberman said......"While the railroads have faced certain challenges over the last few years, the evidence produced at last week's hearing is overwhelming that the railroads' longstanding practice of reducing operating ratios by cutting employment levels, mothballing locomotives, and eliminating other essential resources are the central reasons why....shippers cannot get their products to market on time or receive essential raw materials for their companies." The "failures" are harming the economy and contributing to inflation, Oberman said......

    a) Government knows how to point fingers at the private secotr. But it has no insights, no commercial competence, no real solutions, and zero accountability.

    b) Had U.S. railroads ACTUALLY learned, bought into, and implemented REAL PSR, none of these issues would be nearly as acute.
    This was pure, simple cost cutting.....saving money, at the expense of service. But falsely called "PSR" to coattail on the exceptional results (and market reaction) that Hunter Harrison achieved in Canada.

    PSR idnetifies and removes unproductive, excess assets....creating more capacity, faster response times, and better service.

    The last thing American rail needs is more government.
    BUt close behind is CEO's like Fritz.

    Talk to field employees, these are the people who make the railroad run, not people in Omaha, they say this management is a joke, most of them used more colorful English I agree with Cramer UP in BIG TROUBLE

    UP is restricting fertilizer shopments because it does not have enough capacity. Does not Sound like they are in trouble.

    Hmmm incredible run? Time to trim holdings in UNP and transports in general. Inflation is rising, wages are rising, Fed wants to raise rates and a recession is looming in 2023-24. UNP will continue to take haircuts and be divested from portfolios along with other transports. A realistic P/E is under 20 -not 26.

    UNP is a great company but declining auto sales and intermodal imports will slow EPS. I say avoid this stock now in 2022. Wait for a bottom in 2024 and buy back in.

    Sell now and buy back later at a better price. UNP is a great railroad, but stock is over valued and future EPS will be adjusted down due to macro trends.

    Crammer says sell even though he likes the company , says we have had peak demand for rail and transportation.

    The sharp decline in UNP is because of Joe Biden. One of UNP's most profitable area is hauling OIL from northern states. But Biden is now releasing 1 million bbls a day of cude from strategic reserves, which are located right on the Gulf of Mexico. Why buy oil from UNP shipped from way up north, when you can just get from the startegic reserve.. So for next 2 quarters market says oil shipping volumes at UNP will be earnings will be less. That seems to be what the market says. But the oil release by Biden will last maybe 6 months. So after that is gone, UNP volumes will pick up again?

    Railroads that believe in, fully understand, and fully adopted the cuklture and mindset of the PSR operating system.

    Not UNP.
