The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on Friday it has closed an engineering analysis opened to investigate the loss of rear-view cameras in about 158,716 Tesla's Model X and Model S vehicles. The safety regulator said Tesla's recall of the vehicles appears to address the risk presented by the failure of the component and it will continue to monitor the effectiveness of the recall. The regulator's Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) found that the component that led to the malfunctioning of the rear-view camera has a finite lifespan and once consumed would no longer be functional.
