New addition to my portfolio, picked up 1000 shares at 9.41 today. Long time hold for me and i'm planning to consistently add every few months.

I didn't realize how appropriate the name of this company was for this week and the share price action. TIMBERRRRRR ! : )

Believe it or not but this use to be over $10 usually 5+ years ago, hoping it gets back to those levels. This is one of my best holdings.

Can anybody tell me why the stock has gone so low, more so than others? I was always under the understanding that these mortgage type stocks stocks were very stable

Timbercreek Financial (TSX: TF) (the “Company”) is pleased to announce that its board of directors (the “Board”) has declared a monthly cash dividend of $0.0575 per common share (“Common Share”) of the Company to be paid on March 15, 2021 to holders of Common Shares of record on February 26, 2021.

Timbercreek has a great portfolio and is very ultra conservative. It is probably one of the most conservative in the space. It has been maturing well, Yet the price has been remaining quite low. I feel this company should trade around $12 per unit, and is a great bargain at nine dollars. Excellent unit dividend and excellent management as well. Over the last five years they have expanded and have made a name for themselves as a trustworthy partner and developments. They never over leverage, and they are very conservative. When looking at mortgage companies, this is one of the top three that I select.

any reason for the current weakness (down to 7.80 from 8.10 a week ago)

Super stable usually, but almost 3% drop today???

    59,215 Shorts from Dec 01 2017

Looks like the stock has recovered back to its NAV ! For those who bought it above $10, it was for way over book value!!! it's essentially a MIC !! that is why you saw the drop! buying between $7 and $9 is prudent!
  • m
btw, I calculated the NAV from Sept 2020 reports .. Looks like a 10c drop to $8.66 from the same period last year. Please correct if I am wrong. IMO this is minor, but I haven't gone thru its history to see the changes from year to year.

Timbercreek pays out monthly interest not divideds,

This stock was barely affected by the market correction and pays a very good dividend. Strong long term hold for some security in your portfolio
  • m
dropped to $8.50.. dividend almost 8%. if it drops some more, I'm buying...

Why the sell off in the Ottawa market?
  • m
The only problem I have with TF currently is they are lending to their own "real estate" arm.
I think everything is above board. What I don't know is how much of this lending is to "associated companies". Since its trading above NAV, I'm not investing and thus I am not going to check it out.
Note that in general, I have been very happy with managment and their performance ! I have it on my short list for future investment (below NAV).
