Now US sales ramps up , then blockbuster revenue will come from EVO VIVA sales. Their two products will make a king in the refractive vision correction with no competitors

    1. EVO for Myopia - FDA approved
    2. VIVA for Presbyopia - CE approved

Looks like it was another great Q. I see a fair amount of short interest in the stats, 6%. After these earnings were just announced, those guys are really gonna try and play folks,,,, or else they are so f'ed.

BTW, I also saw J&J had a lackluster Q, where apparently they need a growth story working for them. Wonder where they could acquire one of those to help their numbers?

How is @STAA going to do sales in the US? It seems like they would have to ramp up their sales team now that the company has a product approved in the US.

Company beats both revenue and Net profit. Because foreign currency weakness, else revenue in Q2 was $84m, shows incredible ICL units growth. Every additional ICL unit sales, net profit will rise % due to higher margin

Hey, does this news impact to STAA's stock?

NHK News on June 1, (Japan National Broadcasting Corp.)
In an interview with several people involved in the issue of Staar Japan, a medical device manufacturer, paying cash to several ophthalmologists nationwide for videos of surgeries using its lenses for academic purposes, the manufacturer is believed to have actually provided the cash mainly to secure sales of the lenses, according to a new report. Interviews with several people involved in the issue revealed that the manufacturer was actually providing the cash mainly to secure sales of lenses.
Such actions are suspected to be in violation of the self-regulation rules of industry associations under the Act against Unjustifiable Premiums and Misleading Representations, and the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare and the Fair Trade Council, an industry organization, are investigating the details of the situation.

Intuitive Surgical maker of Da Vinci surgical robots disrupted surgery. It’s been one of the best stocks of the past few decades. It started off slowly as more and more surgeons learned how to use the system. The robots have advanced ever since. Now there are augmented reality assistances being developed aid the surgeons. Intuitive Surgical went from being a niche to the standard of care. The shift in technology takes time. The rewards for being the disruptive force are astounding. STAA isn’t just going to be the standard for corrective vision as a major improvement over Lasik, it is the cure for presbyopia a condition that affects every person on the planet. If you don’t have the vision to let this story play out you will miss extreme wealth creation. Holding come he’ll or high water.

FDA disappointing America and slowing down medical progress. I’ve been unfortunately involved with the Federal Government in business dealings in the past from pharmaceutical, medical device and real estate issues. I don’t think the government agencies have ever been so poorly responsive to their clients. Evo has been widely used around the world with excellent results but America’s highly compensated bureaucratic machine can’t function in a timely manner. The only benefit is that the barrier to entry for potential STAA competitors will be measured in decades and Evo will have a monopoly. I have yet to sell a single share and am considering buying more despite my outsized position. Best of luck to all.

Hey everyone, I have been looking at this stock for a while, I’m still hesitant, it ran a lot with a high pe at the moment. I like their business that involves cataract treatment although I’m questioning why would someone (patient) use an implantable lens instead of LASIK which would provide easier, faster relief with no need for a follow up.

My feeling was they might wait on any big pending approvals to pump up the stock, put in a really good Q or two to pump it up more, and then be acquired. That timing would put it around time of the annual shareholders meeting.
Seems that is akin to how a lot of pharma and med device M&A's have played in the past, anyway.
My hopeful guess. If such came to pass, I'd love it to be substantially shares for shares, so could play out the cap gains over time

I have been accumulating during these dips for the past 10 years. Buffett said it this morning: if you are investing in a company you believe in, you take advantage of the discounts made possible by panicked sellers.

Still holding with absolutely no intent to sell. Not a day trader or market timer, just a conviction to see this story develop.
