I am considering going long on this; i exited back in August of last year at 37, seems like the merger will go through and this is over a year later. Its a whole 7 bucks away.

Condition for merger was sale of cellular division. That is being met with Quebecor. Outage was unfortunate but could occur ta any operator. The rest is all noise, in my opinion the merger will go through

If you are looking at anti competitive behavior all you have to do is look at the map of shaw territory as compared to rogers these 2 carved the country into areas of operations to build cable services with out over lap, this at the time was allowed due to the cost considerations of actually building out the networks, while the "free" over the air broadcasting was crushed and made obsolete, telus and bell were hamstrung due to there pipe size and fell behind, which is slowly changing due to the addition of fibre optics and wireless bandwidth's, now that telus and bell are back in the game it makes sense that the Rogers / Shaw cable networks be consolidated. Time to getter done

It’s not going through, they keep stalling on the talks, no resolutions, too close to a monopoly and after the fiasco Roger’s has faced with the outage (the second one in a year) there’s no way it’ll go through. Not just from a business perspective but for safety and the fragility of our system as well. Shaw will go up and Rogers will go down.

There is only one solution to increase competition, separate the pipes and towers from the content / service providers allowing anyone who wants to send / receive a signals equal affordable access to the infrastructure. GL with that

Rogers Communications Inc (RCIb.TO), Shaw Communications Inc (SJRb.TO), and Canada's competition bureau want to participate in a mediation process for the companies' proposed C$20 billion ($15.5 billion) merger in the Competition Tribunal in July, the tribunal said on Friday.

"The parties have advised the tribunal that they wish to participate in the mediation set for July 4th and 5th," the tribunal said in a statement to Reuters, adding that all information related to any mediation would be confidential.
