I just went to my local Chevy dealer in Indianapolis (not Sonic owned) and they normally have 100-150+ new cars or so. Today they only had a few corvettes, some Cameros and some trucks. Maybe 20 in all. The showroom has zero cars when it normally has 5. Does anyone know if other dealers are having that much trouble getting inventory?

Market still not pricing in upside value from Echo Park. JPM research did a decent job on the numbers in their recent report with a buy rating. Valuation at market multiple for peer entities would more than double valuation.

this CEO incident may get the Smith family out of the business... at least a non Smith ceo... this could be a good thing.. as sonic has always traded at a 'Smith family discount'...

Very disappointing. CEO needs leave of absence to clear this up. Numbers should be very strong for quarter in line with other sector players. Buying opportunity for long term holders. May take time for CEO situation to be resolved.

MS downgrade to underweight. New PT of $40 driving downside.

the hedgies are working hard on all of the dealership groups, slamming them on low volume. all that have report for the 3rd q rocked it! we still have sonic and group 1 reporting on Thursday and they should follow suite.

hold on, there's a lot of tree shaking going on.

Echo park remains undervalued diamond in the portfolio. In my humble opinion its worth at least the company's entire mkt cap based on peer valuations. Cazoo a UK Vroom look a like just priced a financing round at $1BN valuation. They have $100MM of Revenue!

everyone is buying vehicles because of covid!!! it is a record qtr for dealerships!!!

"AutoNation CEO Mike Jackson told CNBC the coronavirus pandemic has significantly shifted American attitudes toward personal vehicles, leading to the company’s blowout earnings report Wednesday. “Coming out of the lockdowns, they said, ‘So much for sharing everything. I’d really like to have my own space that I define,’” Jackson said on “Squak Box.”

"Lithia Motors Inc. said Wednesday it posted a record-high quarterly net income in the third quarter, driven largely by used-vehicle sales and its service, body and parts business. Cost-saving measures Lithia undertook earlier in the year also played a role, the company said. Net income for the Medford, Ore., retailer surged 86 percent to $158.8 million. Third-quarter revenue reached $3.62 billion, up 9 percent from the prior-year quarter. New-vehicle retail sales slipped slightly in the quarter, while used-vehicle retail sales rose in the double digits."
