The 10% drop on 1/19 shows that a bunch of people knew the earnings miss was coming. The further fall after the report of the earnings miss puts the share price at a PE below 9 and keeps the yield competitive. And maybe, just maybe, the lower share price will attract a buyout, hopefully by a Canadian bank.

I’m suspicious of financials that are painting a pretty picture this quarter. RF’s numbers look trustworthy considering all that has changed in the past month and a half. Money is getting tighter and realistic investors better get used to it.

I heard about RF the other day on (http://the-alphatrader.com/). It’s looking like an interesting play.

While I have wished RF would more aggressively increase its dividend, in times like this I applaud management's conservative approach. The low payout ratio guarantees the continuation of the dividend and will allow further increases, albeit small ones, during coming years. And at today's price the 3% yield makes RF attractive to income investors.

When is this going to be bought out? Heard it recommended on CNBC today. You would think another regional bank that wants a presence in the hottest market in the country, Florida, would want to own this company. We will see. I bet it happens.

Anyone ever use (http://Themaxgains.tech)? Their picks are so much better than the ones shared on this message board!

Rising interest rates = pure profit increases for banks. This is the elevator on the ground floor, and the doors are closing. Are you in, or are you out?

Interesting article in news today about large Canadian banks looking to acquire smaller US banks. TD and BMO just fought over BancWest, with BMO buying it for $16B. I've owned shares of several Canadian banks for about 10 years, very happy with the consistently conservative management and yield, and I would be happy to see RF taken over by RY or CM. It would be a stretch, given RF current market cap, but possible.

I have no position. Yet another bank that looks very overbought and due for a pullback at the least. I do not agree with @Richard that rising rates are "pure profit." They could also lead to higher DEFAULTS by consumers and businesses.

higher interest rates eventually translates into higher bank profits. spread has more room to grow.

Trend is still upward, but we need to print a nice long green candlestick today to resume upward momentum. Fundamentals are solid as always. Low PE, low PEG, and perfect market cycle timing.

Bargain day. Buying again. How many times have you seen scared selling of bank stocks due to concern over FED actions, followed by a big rally six months later?

Compare the financials of RF to BAC. You can own a much larger percentage of a bank's cap with RF for the same bucks. also like the strong growth in RF's commercial, trust, real estate, and other focused market segments. BAC is in a rather mature business status. RF has room to run in the vibrant southeast markets.

Another acquisition. Another strategic revenue stream. I think today's dip is unrelated to that, though. Amount of the 10-year yield down by another 2.5%
