If you’re a long term buy and hold investor, tobacco and alcohol stocks reap great rewards. I’ve owned them for decades.

$BTI $IMBBY are extremely undervalued relative to $PM $MO. Kenneth Dart made a 6.5 billion bet on $BTI and $650 million bet on $IMBBY. All his netwoth went into tobacco.

Very solid performance as investors are looking for value and protection against inflation. Getting that dividend is so reassuring, this company is so freaking investor friendly. I am very interested to see if they have solved, at least in part, the chip shortage issue they had with IQOS at the next earnings call.

Don't downvote me, not gonna lie, a few months ago I sold out of my PM in favor of Imperial and BATS just because of the discount and high dividend on said companies. I also like the idea of a pure tobacco play and am not entirely convinced about the future of heat-not-burn.

THAT SAID, today in rural Spain where I live I saw a woman using an IQOS (first time I have ever seen one IRL), and just yesterday I read a headline saying that Philip Morris is opening an IQOS boutique in a nearby shopping center. PM investors: if IQOS has made its way to this little corner of Spain, then you can be certain that this stuff is on the up and up. I haven't bought back in yet, but this is making me reconsider. Obviously the numbers tell this story already, but one thing is the numbers and another thing is to actually see it. Kind of made a lightbulb click for me.

Still like my BATS and IMB, but this makes for some interesting food for thought. GLTA.

PM needs XXII now that they have received FDA approval to market VLN cigarettes.

cash cow and unlike energy companies not affected by oil prices etc...get the dividend, sit out of market till inflation is fully priced in and 1st hike is actualised. then sell this and move onto growth stocks as of Q4 2022.

So one of the main issues on the last earnings report was chip shortage for the IQOS device. I also invest heavily into chip stocks, my two biggest positions being QCOM and AVGO, so I have been following closely the chip shortage problem. I honestly think by March 2022 the shortage will all be gone. This was just a blimp and I think PM's management wanted to give a very conservative guidance because of this issue and the dollar strength going forward.

The company is seeing strong momentum in its IQOS heated-tobacco sticks business, despite the continuing impact of the semiconductor supply shortage and expects “improved sequential IQOS user growth in the fourth quarter.”

Very perplexing the action on PM. Yes I know the chip shortage is hitting the latest IQOS design which will leapfrog the ban in the US. Yes I know that they don't even have enough IQOS second generation devices to sell to new customers. But to drop down now 20% from the recent high is totally unwarranted. I guess everyone needs to sell and buy more overpriced NVDA and Tesla shares.
