Funny to see the shorts come on here warning longs away as if they really cared about them making the right decision. What’s it to you, Bill? 🤣🤣
I listened to the Barclays presentation. Key takeaways: Management, while not seeing a recession manifesting or imminently about to, are planning for and have baked in a significant recession happening, and have adjusted lending to a conservative stance, more than compensating for the eventuality of a downturn in excess of the high end of the expectation curve. Even a downturn worse than ‘08 - ‘09 would be only an income event, and not a capital event. The dividend would remain, and is viewed as sacrosanct. In a significant downturn the buyback might be fungible, but is still going strong for the foreseeable future. The thought that shares are being bought back now, at these levels, with far worse eventualities already baked in with a tremendous amount of cushion is very satisfying. The quality of our loans is steadily improving into prime territory - this combined with a steady job market charts an extremely prudent course for continued success. And above it all we are enjoying an over 12% dividend that is sacrosanct, not going anywhere, and very stable with a less than 50% coverage ratio. Pps can do what it wants - the lower it goes, the more I can reinvest.

It’s amazing - the case of the ever shrinking company. Still making money hand over fist. Committed to the current dividend, easily covered. Current and assumed further market headwinds baked in for months. There are declining shares outstanding - approaching 120 million. Prior to 2020 there were over 135 million shares outstanding. At least a 10% drawdown. Now paying what - an 11.5% dividend?

This company is an example of discrimination on Wallstreet. Companies like BBBY and AMC get more attention than this moneymaker.

Last quarter they returned over $1.60 per share - 0.95 in dividends and over 0.65 in buyback.
