Intel is an enterprise leader, but lacks Nvidia's scale

Intel (INTC) is making waves — alongside chip competitors Nvidia's (NVDA) and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) — at the Computex 2024 conference in Taipei, Taiwan this week, unveiling its newest Xeon 6 processor. Bank of America Senior Semiconductor Analyst Vivek Arya joins Yahoo Finance from the Bank of America Global Technology Conference to point out several of Intel's largest headwinds as it tries to expand and compete within the AI chip space. "They have the [enterprise] incumbency, but they don't quite have the deployed base, the range of software developers. For example, Nvidia has 5 million developers on their CUDA platform," Arya says, who raised BofA's price target forecast on Nvidia to $1,500 per share. "So a lot of the enterprises, as they start to look towards their AI infrastructure, the first name they turn to is Nvidia for the reason that there's a lot of developers who are already familiar with Nvidia's infrastructure." Nvidia has 'insurmountable lead' in AI chip race: Strategist

As Nvidia (NVDA) is set to execute a 10-for-1 stock split after Friday's market close, Bespoke Investment Group co-founder Paul Hickey joins Asking for a Trend to discuss what the move means for the chip giant. "I don't think the stock split is much of a big deal," Hickey says, noting it is a psychological play allowing retail investors to buy more shares at a more attractive price. He explains that Nvidia's recent run is "unlike anything we've ever seen," as the company added $2 trillion in market cap over the span of a year. As the AI race heats up and companies like Google (GOOG, GOOGL) shift their primary focus to AI, Nvidia continues to get a boost. "Today, if you want to build out AI, you have to use Nvidia chips," Hickey says, explaining that Nvidia has what seems like an "insurmountable lead" currently. Over time, however, he expects competition to increase. For more expert insight and the latest market action, click here to watch this full episode. This post was written by Melanie Riehl

GameStop saga, Nvidia vs. Apple, Campbell Soup CEO: Catalysts

The May jobs report revealed a hotter-than-expected addition of 272,000 nonfarm jobs to the US economy, over 90,000 more than economists predicted. Shares of popular meme stock GameStop (GME) are falling after the company announced it would sell 75 million class A shares of its stock. In addition, popular social media meme stock investor Keith Gill is set to host a YouTube livestream on Friday discussing the stock.  Tech giant Nvidia (NVDA) briefly saw its valuation surpass the $3 trillion mark this week, temporarily dethroning Apple (AAPL) as the second most valuable company in the world. This achievement cements Nvidia's position alongside tech titans Microsoft (MSFT) and Apple as the only companies to have attained such a feat. The Campbell Soup Company (CPB)posted its third quarter earnings, revealing a 6% year-over-year increase in net sales that totaled $2.23 billion. The company says the sales were due in part to its acquisition of Sovos Brands. Campbell CEO Mark Clouse sits down with Yahoo Finance Executive Editor Brian Sozzi to give insight into the company's earnings.
