NPI should see elevated profits in EU ,if they don't tax the windfall too much !Electricity rates are dictated by Nat. Gas power rates apparently .In my opinion if they want to curtail use of Russian Nat. Gas and move to greener sources they have to encourage investment in renewable energy .Restrictions such as windfall taxes at the moment are counterproductive !!!

    Another acquisition!
"Baltic Power is a mid-development stage project located approximately 23 kilometers offshore from Poland’s coast in the Baltic Sea."
"The Northland and PKN ORLEN partnership will co-develop the Baltic Power opportunity that is expected to secure a 25-year Contract for Difference (CfD) offtake agreement, providing Northland an investment consistent with the company’s objectives of creating high-quality projects underpinned by revenue contracts that deliver predictable cash flows. Construction activities are scheduled to start in 2023 with commercial operations expected in 2026."

NPI is far and away one of the best players in the renewables field. Further geographic diversification with off shore wind facilities. Future catalysts are great, and this company only deals with extremely credit worthy customers. Fantastic long term hold imo.

We have to keep big picture in mind. This stock ran up at a very good rate in the past 6 months. They are in the right industry and where much of the world is heading in terms of alt energy and in terms of ESG investing. I dont think it was reasonable to see the stock price keep moving at the same pace forever, the company's production has to keep up. Nevertheless, morningstar still has this a 45 dollar fair value and Credit Suisse still maintains a 56 dollar target even after earnings, RBC Capital maintained their 51 dollar target as of yesterday. This is a good company whose stock is taking a breather.

From what I've gathered (David Povall EVP) for NPI said a few things regarding the company's ongoing development projects (15 DEC 2020) in an interview conducted by WFO. The Mexico project has experienced recent hiccups, and in general, the company is still facing headwinds from the ongoing pandemic. The recent news of major oil and gas companies joining the green energy sector has also increased NPI competition. These companies have lagers capitals at their expenditures at their disposal. As for development in Japan, NPI is faced with supply chain issues that are not in the complines hands to resolve. There is also difficulty convincing the local populations, mostly fishermen, as they are concerned about the effects offshore wind could have on their local waters. NPI hopes to be supplying Japan with 10GW of power by the year 2030.
Could this have directly contributed to the drop in price? Maybe but it defiantly shows that NPI is faced with some developmental issues that are inhibiting their current growth.

curious what the longs are thinking? I still get my 4% yield. at the same time I'm up 90%... didn't expect them to rise so quickly. it's a mixture of good company news and renewable industry tailwinds.

As a new investor, it has been rare for me to come across a company I'm truly excited for. I really like the management, the diversity of assets in Canada, international presence, and decent technicals as far as I can tell. As far as a value investment goes I'll be holding onto this one through thick and thin.

NPI, and other utilities, will like face headwinds for the next 2-3 years. COVID-19 created a lower demand for energy, which is still impacting this sector. Inflation will be any issue across the globe and counties may need to raise interest rates to combat it. These two factors will be persistent in the short-term.

NPI is still a long-term play in my opinion. They are well diversified in terms of assets and geography. Slump in energy demand, lower wind resources and component replacements in Nordsee One are the main headwinds NPI is battling. Their management team has my full confidence to address these issues while sustaining growth initiatives through acquisition and development.

I originally got in at $26 and purchased addition shared at this current price. Understanding their our a mid-cap stock, I continue to see upward potential that is well above any downside risks. They will fight the bear and will have a sideways price action for the next 2-3 years with a slight upward bend.

I'd be curious to hear other people's takes.

Overall a great acquisition to continue the fast growth. Near term equity dilution but give this a quarter and this will flow to the bottom line.

When you DRIP companies , lower price = more shares = more dividends ,this is a long term hold , daily movement in price is not always up. Get away from your screens and enjoy the spring weather , companies like this will take care of themselves .

NPI tried to sell ityself 2 years ago at $25-28/s -- potential buyer(s) thought it was pricy -- just shows how wrong and often 'smart' money is - this company is a great candidate for a take-over -- the price will end up in the $65-75/S range in the not too distant future - a small bump in the dividend should be possible given the cash flows
