UPDATE 1-Energy group MPLX ups pipeline throughput by 6% in second quarter

U.S. midstream oil and natural gas company MPLX LP said Tuesday it had increased total pipeline throughputs by 6% in the second quarter of 2022 and terminal throughput by 4%, compared with year-ago levels. MPLX said in an earnings statement that total pipeline throughputs were 5.9 million barrels per day (bpd), with terminal throughput of 3.1 million bpd for the second quarter. The increases were driven largely by increased utilization at refineries operated by its parent company Marathon Petroleum Co, MPLX's Chief Financial Officer John Quaid said during the company's earnings call.
